I just finished a 90-day round of Les Mills PUMP, so I know the program very well. In the future, I will be posting more detailed reviews of each of the workouts which make up Les Mills PUMP. For now, I am sharing my general thoughts about the program. I will say that Les Mills PUMP surprised me. I tried the program because of a recommendation from a friend whose fitness opinion I respect. I didn’t know anything about Les Mills PUMP except that it is very good at getting you shredded. Long story short, I found that I loved the workouts despite having no prior knowledge of them. It is a fantastic resistance training program that is extremely effective at increasing muscular endurance, building muscle, and burning fat.  It also provides great cardio conditioning to boot. Your heart and legs will be working full-time in each workout.

If you are looking to improve any or all of those facets in your physical fitness, you are probably a great candidate for Les Mills PUMP. The program itself takes a generalist approach. It is not designed for any one thing or gender. Both men and women can do the same program and get different results.  The same can be said for people with different fitness levels. You could be starting off on your fitness journey or be a person who is highly fit and still do Les Mills PUMP. If you fall anywhere between this spectrum, you can benefit from the program.

There’s a reason why Les Mills PUMP is so effective. It is based on BODYPUMP, one of the most popular workout programs in the world. BODYPUMP classes are offered in classes in gyms throughout the country and the world. If a country has a gym, it probably also has a BODYPUMP class. Les Mills PUMP is basically a home version of the BODYPUMP gym classes.

In my view, it’s not a question of will Les Mills PUMP work for you. Rather, it’s a question of will you work for it? Like all fitness programs, your results depend on your efforts. You go light on the weights, you’ll get lightweight results. You push yourself as hard as possible, you will get extreme results that are worth showing off.  Read further so see if Les Mills PUMP is right for you.

Les Mills PUMP Is for Men and Women Who Want to Lose Weight and Get Fit

This is one of the things the program is known for. It combines resistance training with cardio conditioning so that you get the best of both worlds. Resistance training will develop your muscles. More muscles means more of what burns calories. Cardio conditioning also torches calories in a big way. When your heart rate is elevated, your body is working hard. That means a higher calorie burn rate. Combine cardio and resistance training in one workout and you will turn your body into a calorie torching machine. If you want to increase your weight loss even more, follow the nutrition guide that comes with Les Mills PUMP and your body will drop weight like fall foliage. On top of that you will become fitter overall. Nice!

Anyone Who Want Leaner, Stronger Muscles

Do you consider yourself a gym rate? Do you hang out two hours or more at the gym each day, going from one weight station to another? Is most of your time at the gym spent waiting for the station to become free, or wiping down equipment.  If you’re working out hard regularly, but just aren’t seeing results, try Les Mills PUMP. The workouts along with it nutrition guide will develop a lean, toned body. It works for both men and women. Men will develop a stronger more muscular physique. Women will become toned and lean. The bottom line is that if your program at the gym has stopped working for you, time to change your program.

Those Who Are New to Working Out

One of the nice things about Les Mills PUMP is that there is a ramp up phase for beginners to get their feet wet. If you haven’t worked out in a long time, or never even, the program will teach you proper form and technique so that you can do all the exercises properly. Even if you’re a workout veteran, you can benefit from the initial phase because it’s always a good thing to learn the basics. When I started Les Mills PUMP, I had already been working out for over two years to different programs, yet I still learned a lot of useful things about weightlifting. Les Mills PUMP is a program that a beginner can feel comfortable doing, but an advanced fitness enthusiast will benefit as well. By beginner, I mean someone who needs to be shown the basics and the fundamentals of weightlifting. This is not to say, however, that the program is easy because I can guarantee you that at the advanced stages, you will be struggling and suffering no matter what you think your fitness level is. Don’t let the beginner label lull you into a false sense of overconfidence because Les Mills PUMP can kick your ass.

Women Who Are Afraid of Getting Bulky from Lifting Weights

Les Mills PumpAlthough it involves weightlifting, Les Mills PUMP is not a bodybuilding program. It is not designed to cause hypertrophy and extreme muscle growth. The training involves using lighter weights at higher rep counts. That’s why if you are a woman looking to get into weightlifting but are afraid to become bulky, Les Mills PUMP is the perfect program for you. You can increase your muscle tone by using light weights. For men who want to build more muscle mass, just use heavier weights. The results you get depends on the weights you use in each workout. Although it is not primarily a mass building program, I don’t want to suggest that you can’t build muscle mass from Les Mills PUMP, because you can. My personal experience is that my quads grew about an inch from doing Les Mills PUMP.

Fans of BODYPUMP Gym Classes Who Want to Work Out at Home to Complement Their Gym Workouts

People who have taken a BODYPUMP class know how insanely addictive and fun they can be. The instructors are motivating. The energy level is crazy. The music helps you to push harder. That’s what you’ll get with Les Mills PUMP. The bottom line is that if you love BODYPUMP at your gym, you will love Les Mills PUMP. The instructors featured in Les Mills PUMP are the best of the best. I have been lucky enough to meet and work out with them in person and I have to say that they are extremely talented fitness professionals who really know how to get your body moving. As soon as you press play, you will quickly forget that you are working out in the comfort of your home. The program does an excellent job of simulating the gym environment.

People Who Are Bored with Other Workouts and Want to Try Something New

P90X with Tony HortonI admit that this was one of my motivations for starting Les Mills PUMP. I’ve completed P90X, P90X+, many of the P90X One-on-One series, P90X2, and Insanity. I was used to be tortured by Tony Horton or Shaun T, so I was ready to try something different.  Although I have gotten great results with all of Beachbody’s workout programs, I am always looking for something new and different. This is the reason why I have been able to work out consistently for over two years. Variety keeps me motivated and interested.  Les Mills PUMP definitely added more variety to my fitness regimen.  So, if you’re a graduate of another Beachbody program like me and you’ve already seen great results, but you’re ready to do something different, Les Mills PUMP is the program for you. Try it and be surprised.

Weightlifters Who Want to Improve Muscular Endurance

If you ever done a serious mass building program, you know that it is always broken up into training blocks. The first training blocks are usually about increasing strength and mass as quickly as possible. The last training block is reserved for cutting, or fat stripping because almost always you will have accumulated some unwanted fat while you were building muscle. Les Mills PUMP is a great program for stripping fat while maintaining muscular mass. Because you are doing serious resistance training, your body will maintain or even continue to build muscle mass. However, due to the intense cardio nature of the program, you will be burning off a lot of fat in the process. Another great advantage is that you will be building extreme muscular endurance while doing Les Mills PUMP. The program will force your muscles to not only work hard, but work efficiently for long periods of time. If you are using the right amount of weights and following along with the pace and tempo of the workouts, it is unavoidable that your muscular endurance will improve.

      Les Mill Pump has “off” days where they suggest you do light cardio, so Hip Hop Abs is an excellent complement to LMP.

    T25 is great for cardio but not to get ripped, do you think les mills pump will do it ?!
